Nieuwsbrief  [English below]  TENTOONSTELLING Foto: Peter Cox Eerste persoon meervoud: empathie, intimiteit, ironie en woede 12 mei–22 juli 2018 Wat brengt groepen bij elkaar? Welke invloed hebben emoties op het vormen van sociale verbondenheid? Hoe bepalen ze tot welke 'eerste persoon meervoud', oftewel tot welke 'wij iemand behoort? BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, toont in de tentoonstelling Eerste persoon meervoud: empathie, intimiteit, ironie en woede hoe kunstenaars de rol van emoties verkennen in het begrijpen van de wijze waarop politieke groeperingen worden gevormd. De tentoonstelling bevat o.a. nieuw werk van kunstenaars Tala Madani en Otobong Nkanga, en dient als kader voor een publiek programma. Met werk van kunstenaars Doug Ashford, Sven Augustijnen, Tala Madani, Liz Magic Laser, Eva en Franco Mattes, Otobong Nkanga en Sarah Vanhee en een ruimte samengesteld door Sepake Angiama. In samenwerking met Museumkaart organiseert BAK in juni een speciaal programma voor Museumkaarthouders. Op 20 juni 2018 om 13.00 en 15.00 uur geeft de curator van de tentoonstelling, Matteo Lucchetti, een rondleiding. Je kunt je voor een van deze rondleidingen aanmelden via steffie@bakonline.org. Lees meer PROGRAMMA FILMVERTONING The Making of Justice & Artist Talk 21 juni 2018 Op donderdagavond 21 juni 2018 organiseert BAK een speciale filmvertoning van kunstenaar Sarah Vanhee's The Making of Justice (2017). Na de filmvertoning vindt er een gesprek plaats tussen Vanhee en Frans-Willem Korsten. De film gaat over zeven gevangenen die samen met Vanhee een misdaadfilm maken. Net als het hoofdpersonage in de film die zij verzinnen, zijn ze allen schuldig aan moord. Bestel je tickets hier. Bestel je tickets hier.  Lees meer   NIEUWS PERFORMATIEF Oproep: What Is the City but the People? Woon of werk jij in Utrecht? Wil je graag je (levens-)verhaal delen? Of het verhaal van jouw gemeenschap of groep? Wat betekent Utrecht voor jou en hoe maak jij (met jouw gemeenschap) de stad? We nodigen 150 mensen uit die in Utrecht wonen of werken om zichzelf te laten zien op een catwalk in het hart van de stad tijdens het Uitfeest op 15 september 2018. Al deze individuele mensen met hun unieke verhalen vormen het zelfportret van de stad Utrecht. De performance What is the City but the People? is gebaseerd op een idee van de Britse kunstenaar Jeremy Deller en een project van BAK, basis voor actuele kunst in samenwerking met Centraal Museum Utrecht en SPRING, Utrecht. Een soortgelijk portret werd als eerste uitgevoerd tijdens het Manchester International Festival in 2017. Newsletter EXHIBITION Photo: Peter Cox First Person Plural: Empathy, Intimacy, Irony, and Anger 12 May–22 July 2018 What brings groups together? What influence do emotions have on the shaping of social solidarity? How do they determine to which 'first person plural', or to which 'we' someone belongs? BAK, basis voor actuele kunst shows how artists explore the role of emotions in the comprehending of the way in which political groups are formed in the exhibition First Person Plural: Empathy, Intimacy, Irony, and Anger (12 May–22 July, 2018). This exhibition includes, among other things, new work by artists Tala Madani and Otobong Nkanga, and serves as a framework for a public program  With works by artists Doug Ashford, Sven Augustijnen, Tala Madani, Liz Magic Laser, Eva and Franco Mattes, Otobong Nkanga, and Sarah Vanhee as well as a space conceived by 2017/2018 BAK Fellow Sepake Angiama. In collaboration with Museumkaart, BAK organizes a special program for visitors with a Museumkaart in June 2018. On 20 June 2018, at 13.00 and 15.00 hrs, the curator of the exhibition, Matteo Lucchetti, gives a guided tour. You can RSVP to one of these tours by sending an email to steffie@bakonline.org. Read more PROGRAM SCREENING Film Screening The Making of Justice (2017) & Artist Talk 21 June 2018 On Thursday evening 21 June 2018, BAK organizes a special screening of artist Sarah Vanhee's film The Making of Justice (2017). After the screening, there will be a conversation between artist Vanhee and cultural  Frans-Willem Korsten. The movie is about seven prisoners who are writing a crime film together with Vanhee. Like the main character in the film they are making, they are all guilty of murder. You can order your tickets here.  Read more NEWS PERFORMATIVE Call for Participation: What Is the City but the People? Do you live or work in the city of Utrecht? Would you like to share your (life) story? Or the story of your community? What does this city mean to you, and how do you and your community—your struggles and achievements—make the city? We invite 150 people living or working in Utrecht to create a unique self-portrait of the city through their individual stories, and to walk or move down a a runway in the heart of the city together at the opening of the Uitfeest on 15 September 2018. The performance What Is the City but the People? is based on an idea by British artist Jeremy Deller and is a project of BAK, basis voor actuele kunst in collaboration with Centraal Museum Utrecht and SPRING, Utrecht. The project was originally commissioned and produced by Manchester International Festival in 2017..
