Oproep/Call for Participation: What Is the City but the People?

Een zelfportret van de stad, door de inwoners van Utrecht OPROEP We nodigen 150 mensen uit die in Utrecht wonen of werken om zichzelf te laten zien op een catwalk in het hart van de stad tijdens het Uitfeest 2018. Al deze individuele mensen met hun unieke verhalen vormen het zelfportret van de stad Utrecht. WIL JIJ DEEL UITMAKEN VAN EEN ZELFPORTRET VAN UTRECHT? Woon of werk jij in Utrecht? Wil je graag je (levens-)verhaal delen? Of het verhaal van jouw gemeenschap of groep? Wat betekent Utrecht voor jou en hoe maak jij (met jouw gemeenschap) de stad? Wat ga je als deelnemer doen? Je loopt of beweegt als jezelf of als vertegenwoordiger van een groep over een grote catwalk op een centrale locatie in Utrecht. Op een groot scherm wordt een foto van je geprojecteerd met een korte tekst die je verhaal beschrijft. De performance en de voorbereidingen worden gefilmd. De film wordt opgenomen in de collectie van het Centraal Museum. Ter voorbereiding op deze dag houden we een interview en fotoshoot met je. Je deelname neemt ongeveer 3 halve dagen van je tijd in beslag.   Praktische zaken Do 28, vr 29 juni en vr 6, za 7, zo 8, juli 2018: fotoshoots en interviews (je moet op één van deze dagen beschikbaar zijn) Zaterdag 8 of zondag 9 september 2018: repetitie voor de performance Zaterdag 15 september 2018: publieke performance op de catwalk.   Geïnteresseerd? Met speciale steun van Utrecht Marketing – Culturele Zondagen en TivoliVredenburg. Een soortgelijk portret werd als eerste uitgevoerd tijdens het Manchester International Festival in 2017. WHAT IS THE CITY BUT THE PEOPLE? CALL FOR PARTICIPATION We invite 150 people living or working in Utrecht to create a unique self-portrait of the city through their individual stories, and to walk or move down a runway together in the heart of the city at the opening of het Uitfeest 2018. DO YOU WANT TO BE PART OF A LIVE PORTRAIT OF UTRECHT? Do you live or work in the city of Utrecht? Would you like to share your (life) story? Or the story of your community? What does this city mean to you, and how do you and your community—your struggles and achievements—make the city? What does it mean to be a participant? The public performance on 15 September 2018 will see participants walk or move down a runway in the centre of the city, alongside portraits of themselves, and quotes taken from interview. Prior to this, we will conduct an interview and a photo shoot with you. Your participation will require approximately three sessions—each around half a day—of your time. Practicalities Thursday 28, Friday 29 June 2018, and Friday 6, Saturday 7, Sunday 8 July 2018: photo shoot and interview (you need to be available on one of these days) 8 or 9 September 2018: runway rehearsal 15 September 2018: public performance Interested?
