Propositions #6: The Temporary Institute for the Contemporary [view English below] NL Als afsluiting van een levendig en inspirerend 2017/2018 pilotjaar van het BAK Fellowshipprogramma organiseert BAK Propositions #6: The Temporary Institute for the Contemporary. Door middel van gesprekken, lezingen en performances delen de BAK Fellows inzichten uit hun onderzoekstraject, evenals hun gemeenschappelijke "collectief woordenboekproject". Deze zesde bijeenkomst in de reeks Propositions for Non-Fascist Living (2017–2020) neemt de vorm aan van een denkbeeldig "instituut van het hedendaagse". Dit terugkerende tijdelijke openbare "instituut" door, voor, met en voorbij de leergemeenschap bij BAK, komt terug aan het eind van ieder Fellowshipjaar. Propositions #6 start om 16.00 uur in de Utrechtse wijk Kanaleneiland met een architectuurwandeling. Het programma bij BAK begint om 17.10 uur en omvat installaties, performances, lezingen en gesprekken door en met alle BAK Fellows en eindigt met een feestje! Bijdragen komen van BAK 2017/2018 Fellows Isshaq Al-Barbary (schrijver en onderzoeker, Bethlehem) en Diego Segatto (kunstenaar en educator, Bologna) van Campus in Camps; Sepake Angiama (educator en curator, Kassel); Matthijs de Bruijne (kunstenaar en vakbondorganisator, Amsterdam); Luigi Coppola (kunstenaar, Brussel en Lecce); Quinsy Gario (dichter, theatermaker en kunstenaar); Ola Hassanain (kunstenaar, Utrecht en Khartoum); Otobong Nkanga (kunstenaar, Antwerpen); Wendelien van Oldenborgh (kunstenaar, Rotterdam); en Pelin Tan (socioloog en kunsthistoricus, Mardin). Propositions #6 vindt plaats binnen het kader van de tentoonstelling Eerste persoon meervoud: empathie, intimiteit, ironie en woede bij BAK (12 mei–22 juli 2018). Het BAK Fellowshipprogramma is in 2017 ingeluid en biedt ieder jaar  tien onderzoeksplaatsen aan Nederlandse en internationale professionals en anderen die werken binnen hedendaagse kunst, theorie en/of activisme.   Kaarten voor Propositions #6 zijn te koop via Eventbrite (€10/€5 exclusief administratiekosten). BAK biedt gratis solidariteitskaarten aan voor hen die zich anders geen toegangskaart kunnen veroorloven. We moedigen je aan om, indien mogelijk, het solidariteitsfonds te sponsoren bij aankoop van je eigen ticket.   Een afhaaldiner met heerlijke Ethiopische injeras dat speciaal bereid wordt voor deze gelegenheid kan tussen 18–22 uur afgehaald worden bij onze buren Restaurant Sunshine (Pauwstraat 11, € 8). Dit project wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt door financiële bijdragen van het Ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap en Gemeente Utrecht. Through conversations, readings, and performances, the BAK Fellows share insights into their respective artistic research itineraries, as well as their common "collective dictionary" project. This sixth gathering in the series Propositions for Non-Fascist Living (2017–2020) takes the shape of an imagined "institute for the contemporary." As a recurring temporary public "institute" by, for, with, and beyond the learning community at BAK, it will emerge with the conclusion of each Fellowship sequence. Propositions #6 begins at 16 hrs in the Kanaleneiland neighborhood in Utrecht with an architecture walk. The program at BAK commences at 17.10 hrs and consists of installations, performances, lectures, and conversations with all BAK Fellows. The day concludes with a party. With contributions by BAK 2017/2018 Fellows Isshaq Al-Barbary (writer and researcher, Bethlehem) and Diego Segatto (artist and educator, Bologna) of Campus in Camps; Sepake Angiama (educator and curator, Kassel); Matthijs de Bruijne (artist and union organizer, Amsterdam); Luigi Coppola (artist, Brussels and Lecce); Quinsy Gario (poet, theater-maker, and artist); Ola Hassanain (artist, Utrecht and Khartoum); Otobong Nkanga (artist, Antwerp); Wendelien van Oldenborgh (artist, Rotterdam); and Pelin Tan (sociologist and art historian, Mardin). Propositions #6 takes place within the framework of the exhibition First Person Plural: Empathy, Intimacy, Irony, and Anger at BAK (12 May–22 July 2018). The BAK Fellowship Program, inaugurated in 2017, is a site for the development of talent and critical practice that advance the notion of art as a public sphere and a political space. BAK offers a unique environment for learning, research, and art-making, which evolves in concert with its public programs. Ten research positions are offered per (academic) year to Netherlands-based and international practitioners involved in contemporary arts, theory, and activisms.
